Candlewood Lake is a great place for boating and fishing. The town of Sherman has a boat launch for your trailer/boat. Just bring your own bait or stop in New Milford for some. Avoid during the holidays, tooo crowded. pete
Great boat rentals at Gerards Waters Edge Marina. We rented a pontoon boat for 10 people and toured the lake all day. The rental was expensive but split between three couples, it was well affordable. We dropped anchor, swam, water tubed, ate lunch, toured the lake...had a great time. Great people to deal with
Went out boating with friends and loved it as we always do. Beautiful weather and scenery. Very crowded on such a nice day so be very careful with all the boats and jet skis and such. Find a calm cove and drop anchor and swim and take it all in. Everyone so friendly. Keep an eye out for the friendly pirate ship that may come to visit. So much fun was had. An absolute must if you are in the area.
We were invited to the private lake house neighborhood of Candelwood Lake in New Fairfield by friends of ours to celebrate the fourth of July, only a 45 minute ride from Trumbull and it feels like a whole different world, reminds me of the Cape, beautiful beaches and crystal clear water the Lake is huge about 8 miles and is the largest lake in Connecticut, the lake is bordered by five towns: Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, and Sherman, there is also public access to the lake, where we were, there was a private dock and 2 beaches with swimming platforms, we also went on our friends pontoon for a ride across the lake, it is beautiful up and down the Lake, there were plenty of other boaters, water skiers and jet skis enjoying the great weather, fun time was had by all, can't wait to return
Spent a weekend at Candlewood Lake and had a wonderful time. The lake itself is stunning, and there's no shortage of activities to enjoy, from kayaking to hiking nearby trails. The campground facilities were well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. My only suggestion would be to improve the signage around the area, as it can be a bit confusing for first-time visitors. Overall, a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
Candlewood Lake is a hidden gem in the heart of nature. The tranquility of the surroundings is unmatched, offering a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. I had the pleasure of camping by the lake for a weekend, and it was an unforgettable experience. The starlit skies and the soothing sounds of nature made for the perfect camping ambiance. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend for anyone looking to reconnect with nature.
Candlewood Lake exceeded all my expectations! The crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings make it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. I had the pleasure of renting a lakeside cabin for the weekend, and it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping and the sight of the sun rising over the lake was truly magical. The staff was attentive, ensuring our stay was comfortable. Can't wait to return!
Had a fantastic day trip to Candlewood Lake with my family. The scenery is absolutely stunning, and there are plenty of picnic spots and hiking trails to explore. We rented a pontoon boat and spent the afternoon cruising around the lake, soaking in the beauty of our surroundings. The only downside was the lack of public restrooms near the boat dock, which made it a bit inconvenient. Otherwise, a perfect destination for a day of outdoor fun.
Candlewood Lake is a true paradise for nature lovers. The serene beauty of the lake is simply breathtaking, offering endless opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Whether you're boating, fishing, or simply taking a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, the experience is nothing short of magical. The surrounding scenery is picturesque, especially during sunset. A perfect destination for a peaceful getaway with family and friends.

The lake was perfect for swimming and kayaking, and the surrounding trails offered breathtaking hikes. The accommodations were top-notch, with cozy cabins right by the water.
